Contribute to the WC14 Program
Your contributions are instrumental in designing an impactful and engaging Congress program.
Based on guidelines from the Alternatives Congress Trust to create a well-balanced program reflecting the 3Rs, WC14 Scientific and Organizing Committee strive to integrate interdisciplinary content for diverse perspectives and learning experience.
All accepted sessions and abstracts submitted by the deadline will be published in the proceedings.
Sessions are an essential part of the scientific program of the 14th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences (WC14). We invite experts from academia, industry, regulatory authorities, non-governmental organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to submit proposals for scientific sessions that align with the congress theme and objectives.
How to submit a Session?
Session proposals must be submitted through the WC14 online submission portal - available soon - during the Call for Sessions period.
When preparing your proposal, please provide the following information:
- Session title.
- Session description and objectives (maximum 5.000 characters).
- Proposed session format (e.g. symposium, workshop, roundtable, panel discussion).
- Name and affiliation of the Session Chair(s).
- Preliminary list of proposed speakers and presentation topics.
Session Requirements & Guidelines
- Session topics should align with the scientific themes of WC14.
- Session Chairs are responsible for coordinating the proposed speakers and ensuring a balanced and high-quality programme.
- Diversity in expertise, geography, sector representation, and perspectives is strongly encouraged.
- The maximum duration of a session is 90 minutes.
- Individual presentations may be 15, 20, or 30 minutes in length (including Q&A)
- A session may include a maximum of 6 speakers, including the Session Chair if the Chair is presenting.
- Session organizers may allocate up to 75 minutes of the session programme. The remaining time is reserved for the International Scientific Committee (ISC), which may add an abstract selected through the general abstract submission process, such as a student or early-career researcher presentation.
- Proposed speakers will not receive an automatic notification or confirmation from the congress after a session is submitted. Session organizers are responsible for obtaining the agreement of all proposed speakers before including them in a session proposal and for keeping them informed throughout the process.
- Session proposals may be edited until the session submission deadline. To make changes, log in to the submission portal and select the Edit button next to your submission.
- Submission of a session proposal does not guarantee acceptance.
- All submitted sessions will be reviewed by the International Scientific Committee (ISC). Accepted sessions may be subject to review, modification, or merging with similar proposals.
- The congress cannot accommodate requests for specific presentation dates, times, or scheduling preferences during the session review and programme development process.
Review Process
All session proposals will be evaluated by the International Scientific Committee (ISC) based on:
- Scientific quality and relevance.
- Alignment with the congress themes.
- Novelty and timeliness of the topic.
- Balance and diversity of speakers and perspectives.
- Expected interest to the international WC14 audience.
The ISC may combine similar proposals, suggest modifications, or recommend alternative formats where appropriate.
After Acceptance
Once a session proposal has been accepted:
- Session Chairs will be notified by the WC14 Secretariat.
- Confirmed speakers will be invited to submit their individual abstracts through the online abstract submission system.
- Session Chairs will work with the WC14 Secretariat to finalize the session program.
Important Information
- All speakers and Session Chairs are required to register for the congress.
- WC14 does not generally provide financial support for travel, accommodation, or registration unless explicitly agreed upon by the Organizing Committee.
- Detailed submission deadlines and guidelines will be announced on the WC14 website.
