During the Closing Ceremony of WC13, we are proud to recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions through a variety of awards and travel grants.

These opportunities support early-career researchers, promote regional representation, and highlight excellence in scientific presentations. From travel support to best poster and oral presentation awards, WC13 is committed to fostering the next generation of leaders in non-animal science.

US $350 awarded to two first-author poster presenters—one from the Asia-Pacific region and one from Central or South America—based on originality and clarity.

ESTIV Best Oral Presentation Award

€250 and a one-year ESTIV membership for the best oral presentation by a first author, judged on excellence, innovation, and clarity.

€250 and a one-year ESTIV membership for the best poster by a young scientist (35 years old or younger), demonstrating high scientific quality and relevance.

ALTEX AWARD PRICE FOR THE BEST 2025 ARTICLE

The ALTEX Prize, established in 1998, is awarded to the first author of the best article published in the journal ALTEX (www.altex.org) in the previous year of the World Congress. The Doerenkamp-Zbinden Foundation generously sponsors the ALTEX Prize, which entails a personal prize of CHF 2.000.

AIVT Early Career Best Oral Presentation

Applied In Vitro Toxicology will be giving a $300 award to a best oral presentation from an early career scientist (between 5 and 10 years post-PhD), focusing on applied work that stands to make a lasting impact on NAMs implementation.

2025 Humane Science Innovator Award

The Humane Science Innovator Award honors scientists who have made outstanding contributions to the replacement of animals in research and testing. Formerly known as the Russell and Burch Award, it is open to researchers from academia, industry, or government, including method developers and pioneers in non-animal approaches. The winner will receive a US $10,000 cash prize and a commemorative award, presented at WC13 in Rio de Janeiro.

Natura Campus Award for Innovation in Animal-Free Methods

The Natura Scientific Award celebrates outstanding research in Brazil focused on developing innovative, animal-free testing methods. In honor of Natura’s 19-year commitment to ending animal testing and its Cruelty-Free International certification, the award includes a fully sponsored visit to the Natura Innovation Center in São Paulo in early 2026. The winner will tour the facilities, meet Natura’s alternative methods team, and present their research to explore future collaborations.

Healthbiolux Innovation award

One award for the best student presentation of work on bioprinting/modelling on a chip.
