About the world congress

WELCOME TO WC14!

The 14th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences (WC14) will be held in Seoul, Korea, from 15–19 August 2027. Continuing the proud legacy of previous World Congresses, WC14 will serve as the foremost global platform dedicated to advancing the 3Rs principles; Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement, while shaping the future of humane and innovative science.

Under the congress theme, “Beyond New Frontiers: Innovation in New Approach Methods Using Life Sciences”, WC14 will bring together leading scientists, regulators, policymakers, industry experts, NGOs, and young researchers from around the world. The program will highlight cutting-edge New Approach Methods (NAMs), their societal and regulatory impact, and the strategies required to foster their international adoption.

Delegates will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge across a wide range of disciplines, explore Korea’s pioneering contributions to life sciences innovation, and engage with global partners in shaping policies and practices that will define the future of humane and sustainable research.

WORLD CONGRESS About the series

The World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences is a significant international event that focuses on advancing the field of alternatives to animal testing in research and education. The congress provides a platform for scientists, researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and discuss the latest developments in the field.

These congresses typically cover a wide range of topics related to alternatives to animal use, including the development and validation of alternative methods, ethical considerations, regulatory aspects, and the implementation of alternative approaches in various scientific disciplines such as toxicology, biomedical research, and education.

The World Congress on Alternatives is held periodically, with each congress aiming to bring together experts from around the world to collaborate and accelerate progress towards reducing, refining, and replacing the use of animals in scientific research and testing. These events play a crucial role in shaping the future direction of research and policy in this area, ultimately contributing to the promotion of more humane and scientifically sound approaches to advancing the life sciences.
